3×1 Store Opening
Even if you’ve never heard of Scott Morrison, we’ll venture to guess that you’re probably familiar with his two highly successful denim companies, Ernest Sewn and Paper Denim & Cloth. Having grown both of those labels into household names, Morrison is now moving on to a new project called 3×1 (the name comes from 3×1 right hand twill, a standard weaving construction). Located in the heart of New York City, 3×1 is a new retail concept store that has a full-fledged, in-house denim manufacturing facility where shoppers can actually stand by and watch as a team of craftsman assembles a pair of jeans. Stocking a small selection of the limited-edition merchandise that’s being produced in-house (up to 25 pieces per day), 3×1 will sell both men’s and women’s apparel.

Paul Smith’s Flagship Store In Seoul
Traditional English gent Paul Smith has opened his three story flagship store in Seoul. The futuristic architecture of the exterior is proper for the Seoul scene and fits to perfection with the surrounding architecture, yet the inside, stays true to the Paul Smith brand in every which way. Each of the three floors inside the store vary in design based on which Paul Smith collection it houses. Large central spiral staircases with decorative iron railings reach up through all floors as striped walls wrap around them displaying actual art from Mr. Smith’s personal collection. The third floor houses Paul Smith’s woman’s collection where cut out holes in the sloped roof create an interesting array of natural lighting which projects through the space.

Alice In Wonderland Restaurant
Nope, you didn’t fall down the fabled rabbit hole. You’re merely witnessing the magic of Fantastic Design Works Co.’s new Alice In Wonderland inspired restaurant in Tokyo. The entire story unfolds within the walls of the 2,000 sq. ft. restaurant, from beginning to end. Upon entrance, guests are graced with oversized vintage books, mirrored walls, and polished checkered floors. Making your way to your table, you will find that larger than life grass hedges encase each table. Dramatic theatrical elements are in play throughout the entire space accompanied by intense lighting, various spots of color on the ceiling, and table napkins that sit upright, threatening to march away at any given moment. Fantastic Design Works Co. designed a private dining room that’s fit for a queen! The queen of hearts and the rest of her deck is the main theme of the intimate dining space. The restaurant is an acutely literal take on the 1951 animated movie as it is divided into themed sections that reflect certain scenes from the film. If you are in the Tokyo area stop by for a bite, you never know where it could lead you!
